Printing bright coloured text – why your screen is not the print

Why do bright colours look dull in prints? Printing bright colour art/text on cards and products.(~5mins)

Colours that look great on screen can look weak and lack contrast/brightness when printed, especially on cards and other non photo media.

By using a printer test image, you can find out just what colours your printer can manage and pick your colours from the print, not what they look like on screen. The colours on the print show what you can and can’t get from the printer/paper/ink combination. Add this to design techniques to make the colour stand out (such as a black border to the text) and the chances of a disappointing print are reduced.

The test image in this video should be printed exactly as you would print normally – it needs no special colour management or profiles. Even phones and tablets should work.
