After a pre-announcement and numerous leaks the D850 is a camera with a lot in it. It goes for resolution and speed: a full-frame 45.7MP BSI (back illuminated) CMOS sensor without a low pass filter that can provide full resolution 7 fps bursts with AF/AE (up to 9 fps with a MB-D18 grip and EN-EL18a/b battery). It includes the D5’s 153-point AF system, and an ISO range of 64-25,600 (optional 32 to 102,400).

The D850 has full-frame 4K 24/25/30p capture. Videographers get focus peaking (1080p-only) and zebra stripes, along with uncompressed 4:2:2 8-bit 4K HDMI output and microphone/headphone inputs.

The D850 has a tilting 3.2″ 2.36M-dot touchscreen. Dual card slots are featured: one XQD, one SD. Connectivity via Nikon’s mobile app uses Snapbridge. The camera has Wi-Fi connectivity. The magnesium alloy body is weather sealed, with illuminated controls to glow in the dark.
