Video: Using a variable ND filter
Keith looks at a K&F 82mm variable density neutral filter. The adjustable ND2-ND32 filter gives 1 to 5 stops of light reduction.
This is one of Keith’s short videos (7m 10s) looking at the kit and accessories he often takes on photography jobs.
The filter has hard stops on the control ring at ND2 and ND32 meaning it’s not possible to set the filter ‘out of range’ where a cross pattern of vignetting can occur.
Wider apertures with a tilt/shift lens allow the thin plane of focus to be used, even in bright daylight. With video, a longer shutter speed can be used at wider apertures for smoother movement and reduced depth of field.
