Video: Using a diagonally shifted lens
A short video (7 mins) looking at the results of shifting a lens in a diagonal direction. Not the usual up/down or left/right. It allows vertical shift, whilst displacing the camera viewpoint to the left/right. It’s a less widely used technique than basic shift (rise/fall).
Combining it with a panning of the camera can change the apparent geometry of the image, whilst still retaining the rectilinear projection of the lens. There is an article looking at diagonal shift, with more examples.
Also a video looking at some examples of diagonal lens shift in landscape
These are part of a series of short videos looking at different functions of tilt and shift lenses.
There is much much more about tilt/shift lenses and their use on our tilt/shift index page.
