Update for DxO Optics Pro

A while ago I reviewed DxO Optics Pro V6.2 – it’s the latest version of this software, that I’ve used for several years for converting some of my RAW files for large prints.

One minor annoyance was that it didn’t -fully- support My EF 14mm 2.8L II lens on my Canon 1Ds3 – well this has been rectified as part of a major updates in bodies/lenses supported by the software.

Full update list from DxO

The 14mm is a very good lens, and even without full support I could use DxO Optic Pro 6.2 to convert and correct raw files where I’d used it.

Like any lens this wide it does have some distortions which can be noticeable in some shots (although not as often as you might think)

This animated image shows the geometric correction on and off (other lens aberrations and softness can be fixed irrespective of whether you fix this)

Which is best? – well, at 14mm on a 35mm full frame camera I’d say the choice is up to you with an image like this.

In many ways it’s the much more precise fixing of lens softness and chromatic aberration that I’ve been waiting for.
