Keith has been looking at the Sirui C60X LED lighting unit.
It’s very small for its power and has a range of accessories available.
It provides a variable intensity light from a bi-colour LED system, giving a colour temperature settable between 2500K and 6500K

Keith’s YouTube video C60X review
Sirui C60X LED lighting
A lot of my commercial photography is out of the studio. Even when of a ‘studio style’ I’m often working in corners of factories and spare rooms where a key requirement for any lighting is flexibility.
Since my original C60B review, I’ve also used the Sirui C60B light for many of my YouTube videos
The Sirui C60X lighting I’m looking at here, has an inbuilt battery and is much smaller and compact than the C60B
Like many, I know Sirui for their specialist lenses – so was interested to have a look at another one of the Sirui LED lights when they asked if I’d like to test it.
I’m testing the basic kit, of lap, reflector and diffuser
Optional extras for the C60X
There are accessories available for the lamp, such as a Bowens fit adapter.
The LEDs
The LED block is a matrix of cool and warm LEDs. It’s backed with a powerful, but quiet fan which comes on as needed.
Controlling the Sirui C60X
The controls on the lamp vary colour temperature and brightness, as well as giving a range of effects.
I prefer to set things via the Sirui app, which runs on my iPhone and iPad. It runs on my MacBook Pro as well, although not actually supplied for computer use.
You can control multiple lights and groups of lights. I tried it at about 10m distance and it worked OK – good for what I’m likely to need…
Sirui C60X colour accuracy
I measured output with a Datacolor Lightcolor meter.
Measured output at different CCT and power settings [percentage of full output]

Here’s a plot of settings vs output.
Note how the range of output colour temperatures is slightly reduced at low power.
Variation of output with CCT. The cooler temperatures are slightly brighter
Lastly, adding the diffuser dome drops the output colour temperture
Conclusions – Sirui C60X LED portable lighting
The quality and accuracy of the lamp output is definitely a step up from the C60B I use for my videos and some commercial photo work.
It’s solidly built and very conveniently sized for portable use.
As with the C60B, I would want to make custom DNG files for commercial photography for, but the need for them seems reduced with the newer LED technology of the C60X
If I had an issue it would be that in the longer term, there is no facility for replacement of the batteries.

Keith has written a book that looks at the many ways that tilt/shift lenses can benefit your photography from a technical and creative point of view. If not in the UK check for import issues and maybe try an on-line bookshop. Keith has no connection with sales of the book.
