Photography training and teaching
Digital Photography courses, seminars and lectures
At Northlight Images we are not worried by the prospect of people undertaking their own photography -- we know that our clients value the creative insight and technical skills that come as standard in all our commercial photography.
Our commercial photography courses are designed to fit -your- precise needs and cover a very wide range of material at whatever level of complexity you want.
Many corporate clients want to take their own photographs for internal and web use. Northlight Images offers in-house training covering photography and all aspects of digital image manipulation. We will help you get the most out of the equipment you already have and can help you decide whether it is truly adequate for your needs.

What did you want to know?
One of the difficulties we have in explaining what we can teach, is that there is just so much you can choose from.
Our courses can be tailored to be as general or as specific as you need.
Say, for example, you have some film photography knowledge and want to learn more about using your skills in a digital environment? A typical day's course might include:
Several on-line versions of Keith Cooper's photography courses are available on this site. They are free to use for personal and non commercial use.
An example from his introductory digital photography course covers Basic Image manipulation with Adobe Photoshop Elements.
If you already have basic skills in Photoshop, then the whole of the course is available in two half day one-to-one workshops (using Photoshop or Elements).
There are many more tutorial and articles on this site aiming to teach different techniques and skills in photography and printing.
Digital imaging Lectures / Presentations / Seminars
Keith provides lecturing and seminars for commercial organisations.
An example would be a series of talks delivered to the UK mapping agency, covering the technology behind their digital imaging activities. The talks were designed to give a much wider appreciation of digital imaging technology to various mapping and photogrametry staff.
Seminars are customised to meet your organisation's needs at any level of technical detail and can cover topics as diverse as:
- Digital sensor design - CMOS/CCD - sensor characteristics and performance
- Colour management (theory and practice)
- Characteristics of digital images
- Optics and image correction
