Looking at the basICColor Discus

We were recently lent  a Discus colorimeter to have a look at.

I’ve been testing it for monitor calibration/profiling on our usual monitors and an NEC SVR271 – at around £800 for just the colorimeter I was looking for something rather special.

It’s a pretty solidly built device and is apparently fully temperature compensated for readings between 10 and 50 degrees C

It’s designed for stability and accuracy, and can be used for projectors and ambient light measurement too.

For a number of higher end monitors it has stored reference data about their characteristics, to enable even more accuracy.

It even includes a built in laser for alignment…
