All the Nik plugins for just $126

March discount for Nik plugins – closed

Having reviewed all of Nik software’s image editing plugins, we’ve had a 15% discount link for a while.

Google has taken over Nik, and is now offering the entire collection of plugins for $149 this month (March 2013)

We have a software purchase link that (until April 1st) [...]

Whither rumours?

Looking for the new camera rumours…

Very much ‘in development’

I’ve maintained a few rumour pages on this site for longer than the xxxrumors.com sites have been around, but I’ve always had a slightly ambivalent attitude towards keeping the pages going.

On one hand, I’d much rather the site was known for the articles [...]

Site defaced – sorry for any inconvenience

Overnight, our web site was hacked – we think it’s all back to normal now, but are still investigating

Blog glitch

Due to a backup failure, we’ve lost blog comments from the last few days – apologies if your comments were amongst them – I’m working on a full restore.

Things to remember – test your backup strategy properly – before it’s needed!

‘Envolve’ – New feature in rumours section…

If you visit the site’s rumour pages, you may have noticed a tiny addition to the bottom right hand corner of the browser window.

Envolve tab

This is Envolve, a live chat system for part of the Northlight site. You can get an account quite easily, with an optional photo and add some biographical [...]

Why do photography review videos and podcasts suck?

I’m regularly asked about adding video content and podcasts to the Northlight Images site – why hasn’t it happened?

Well, apart from having a [...]

Photography training directory

After deciding to expand some of our advanced photography training courses to cover private individuals, I thought it a good idea to help promote other pro photographers who offer such training as part of their business.

The directory (just set up) is open to any working professional photographer who offers training in a particular geographic [...]

Personal tuition – specialist photography topics

I get quite a few requests for personal photography tuition, covering specialist topics.

In the past I’ve only provided such services through Northlight Images to our commercial clients.

This is where I teach companies such things as colour management, or how to do their own product photography or for real estate professionals, how to take [...]

Web site tidy up

It’s taken several weeks of work, but at last the Northlight Images photography site has had a makeover.

There are still a few things to sort out, but hopefully the site looks quite a bit tidier and more consistent.

When you add content over a period of several years it’s easy for the style to [...]

Dealing with the world – running a site like this :-)

Two emails this morning reminded me of why I keep the site running and what you sometimes have to deal with.

First was an anonymous ticking off I received about the content of some of the Google Ads we have on the site.

I’d have rated it as helpful if the writer had had the [...]
