Stonehenge, Winter solstice sunset

Stonehenge, Winter solstice sunset

Stonehenge, Winter solstice sunset

The midwinter solstice sunset at Stonehenge in 1976

Taken standing at the heel stone. There were less than 10 people present at the site. One person said it was the first time it had been clear since 1964. This is a very special personal picture for me. It's a scene unlikely to be repeated, either due to access restrictions or the larger numbers of people that now turn up. I remember it as a quiet and empty, with a sense of stillness, as the few of us there just did nothing much else than watch the sun set.

Keith genuinely believes that almost anyone can take good photographs and has written many free articles, reviews and tutorials to help people improve their photography. There is, for example, a two part article about Digital Black and White Photography. Keith was interviewed about 'digital black and white' for a magazine article and we have an expanded version of it here, covering some of his thoughts, techniques and tips for those thinking of trying black and white.
