Vat Burn falls 2
Vat Burn falls 2 Burn o' Vat, Loch Kinord The muted colours capture the essence of a grey wet day in the highlands. I've been visiting the Highlands since I was studying geology at University. Although I've visited many much higher areas, the mountainous parts of Scotland have a very distinctive feel. The two pictures of the falls here are also unusual in that I used a tripod for the longer exposures needed to give the flowing feel to the water (more so in Vat burn falls 2). I wanted to capture some of the cool greyness of the location, and although I first looked at doing these prints in black and white, I felt that the soft colours really enhanced the feel I wanted.
