We offer specialised macro photography of very fine details and small objects, as well as our industrial and product photography.
Close-up photography at scales of just a few millimetres filling a frame, and images capable of being printed at poster sizes, opens up the world of tiny things and offers unique opportunities for design and advertising creatives.
The garden spider and wasp photo to the right is available as a 1 metre high print.
For engineering companies and manufacturers, we provide detailed images showing microscopic product faults and failure mechanisms.

The right tools for the job
We use the same advanced cameras and lenses whether in the studio or in your factory.
With a range of lenses and custom mountings, we've actually built lens assemblies for specific jobs.
If you don't think a photo is possible - ask us, we love technical challenges.
 The smallest microchip we've photographed to date measured just 0.71mm square - the photo showed writing on the top of the chip.
When can you take my photos?
We can sometimes fit in work at only a few days notice. Our aim is to accommodate your requirements and provide commercial product photography that fits in with your plans.
Working on location
We are happy to discuss bringing equipment to your offices, for location based product photography of any sized object you want.
This is particularly so for our range of Industrial Photography services.
How much does all this cost?
 The bespoke nature of macro photography means that it's difficult to give detailed pricing information here.
Our general product photography rates (below) give a guide for clients wanting larger quantities of items photographed
We can always provide written quotations and agree costs in advance - please give us a call if you would like to discuss a project or get a firmer estimate for your product photography requirements.
Location based photography is priced as per our normal commercial rates
For more complex projects with specialist lighting and props, we may charge on a time basis rather than per item (see our commercial rates) - please give us a call if you would like to discuss what you need.
Product photography prices - a guide
For small (individual) item web product photography and studio pack shots at Northlight Images, there is usually a charge per item photographed.
If we carry out work on location, our normal photography rates would apply.
Images (plain background) are supplied on CD (£12) or DVD (£18) in web res (72 dpi) sRGB JPEG (other formats and higher resolution images for print use are available to order).
Images are colour corrected, but otherwise not retouched in any way. Additional specialist image manipulation (Photoshop) is by prior arrangement and depends on the type of work undertaken. It is charged on an hourly basis at £95 per hour or part thereof.
Prices per item (excl. VAT).
For two or more images of the same item - 40% reduction (i.e. for 10-19 rate the first image of the item would be £25, while subsequent shots of the same item would be £15).
A group of small objects normally counts as one item - for larger groups, please contact us.
Volume pricing is based on number of items, and is on a per-session basis (i.e. one item photographed each week for ten weeks is charged at ten times the 1 item rate).
Notes
- As part of our quality control procedures, we will only supply images in CMYK formats upon receipt of precise ICC profiles and/or conversion details, along with a written specification of the conversion requirements.
(Note there may be a charge for some CMYK image conversion work).
- Return of items photographed is by collection or at clients expense.
- Due to specialist resources sometimes required, please contact us for jewellery and Macrophotography rates.
